Risk Factors of Osteoporosis	

	Since osteoporosis is of such slow onset and is difficult to treat once established, investigators have studied in some detail the risk factors that could predispose patients to later development of the disease. Factors that have been associated with increased risk of later development of osteoporosis are listed in Fig. 18.18.
